I originally called this the “zig zag scarf” because of the geometric nature of the lace pattern. Then I saw a photo of some roofs from the corner of Valencia Street and 24th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco and changed the name of the pattern to Valencia.

Yarn: Summer (fingering weight): 738 yds/675 meters plant fiber preferably linen) blend, structured fingering weight yarn that knits up to 6 to 7 sts/inch.
Fall (aran weight): 573 yds/524 meters plant fiber (preferably linen) blend, structured fingering weight yarn that knits up to 6 to 7 sts/inch, held together with 573 yds/524 meters merino/wool blend fingering weight yarn that knits up to 7 to 8 sts/inch.
Summer: Shibui Knits ‘Linen’, (246 yards/225 meters; 100% linen; 1.76 oz/50 grams per skein). 3 skeins in 2031 Poppy.
Fall: Shibui Knits ‘Linen’, (246 yards/225 meters; 100% linen; 1.76 oz/50 grams per skein). 3 skeins in 2017 Velvet and Shibui Knits ‘Stacatto’, (191 yards/175 meters; 70% merino, 30% silk; 1.76 oz/50 grams per skein). 3 skeins in 2017 Velvet.
